WOOOHOOOO!!!

At long last, the wait is over. The worrying and the agonising (probably all unfounded, but indirectly justified) are at an end - we have been granted permanent residence in Australia. Strange though that this comes on the eve of the elections in South Africa….coincidence? (I really hope that all goes well with the elections and I remain rather nervous for the outcome.)

I feel as if a massive weight has been lifted from me - I quite literally felt light-headed when I heard the news. Of course we had to celebrate - and we managed to end up at a restaurant that featured Nederburg Pinotage on the menu - I’ll have to go back for that (it somehow didn’t seem fitting to celebrate with a South African wine!).

:-P

Congrats!!! Lets hope we follow suit soon :)

Voter turnout here has been good - we are all holding our breath for this one.

How’s it going with your app?

Our application for PR was submitted and paid for ~3 weeks ago - after ages and ages of waiting for skills assessments (and re-assessments).

Now it is just a waiting game - with the current economic climate we expect the DIAC to only view our application sometime mid 2010.

Long wait, but we are moving forward.
