Why did we lose that game
Monday, March 26th, 2007So being in Australia we have to wake up at 24:15 to watch the games in the cricket world cup 2007. Last Sunday we woke up to see Smith win the toss and elect to field first. I knew that SA would be chasing a high total on a small ground with flat pitch and quick outfield. But hey since 438 I am totally confident that we can chase anything that is set for us. We have a phenomenal batting line up.
Smith and de Villiers started beautifully and we were costing to an awesome victory over arch enemies Australia. But cricket is a funny old game. De Villiers was run out by a magical piece of fielding from the out field, and Smith suffered cramps in both his legs, arms and in his back. We ended up loosing that game by 86 runs, a game that I feel we should have won. Now in the post-mortem of the game I can’t but feel a certain amount of responsibility of the loss must fall on Kallis, it seems to me that he was wrapped up in his own world and was not following the game at all. We all know that Kallis has the ability to be able to score quickly but it seems that it is only when he wants to.
I am neither a professional sports commentator nor a professional cricketer. And I also know that opinions are like assholes, every one has them. This is only my opinion and I would love to hear your opinions on this.
Cheers
